Why is the military phasing-out the Humvee(Hummer) for?

Too many soldiers are being killed by IEDs. A vehicle like the Nyala is inherently safer due to it's rounded shape. You will note that the contractors in Iraq prefer the Nyala to the Humvee. There is only so much you can do to protect a flat floor pan from land-mines.Why is the military phasing-out the Humvee(Hummer) for?I guess they weren't the lowest bidWhy is the military phasing-out the Humvee(Hummer) for?
Because they waste too much oil, we need a cheaper way of getting around.Why is the military phasing-out the Humvee(Hummer) for?Because the design is 25 years old and the ones we have are wearing out. The military figures that since they are going to have to spend the money to replace them anyway - why not get a more modern design?
technology persists. the HMMWV (hummer) is just getting out dated. we have moved on to vehicles that are capable of having more armor and able to carry more personnel. I enjoy my Stryker tons more than a HMMWV.

It's fast, easy to drive, holds a ton of armor, and weapons, great vision, easy to repair, handles sand like a champ, never breaks down, takes a lot of punishment. Because the military is creating a new safer version of the Humvee. With the change in focus going from aggression and fighting enemy soldiers to more peacekeeping and Country building they need a vehicle that can handle the terrorist road side bombs and still keep the soldiers safe and the vehicle moving.
During the Gulf War in 1991 when the Iraqis were running away instead of shooting back at Americans,these vehicles didn't suffer any damage and were considered to be cool.Now that the Iraqis are shooting back at American forces,these vehicles are realized to be death traps.Why is the military phasing-out the Humvee(Hummer) for?
Land mines, IEDs, and other boobytraps are by far the biggest threat to the modern military. Just not too many firefights anymore. We killed all the brave ones. A boat bottom vehicle is long over due.
Beacuse we are finally getting the hover tanks we have been waiting for.
