There will be good sized electric vehicles, like the ZAP-X

and Phoenix SUT

but these will be made of fairly lightweight materials. They won't be a massive block of heavy steel like the Hummer. With the new interest in electric cars, do you think they'll come up with a battery powered Hummer?
The idea is already feasible, only you would have to stop every hundred feet to recharge it, just like you have to constantly pour fuel into them. With the new interest in electric cars, do you think they'll come up with a battery powered Hummer?my hummer is rechargeable.
technically electric is simpler and more reliable than the complex transmission of the 4wd infernal comustion or hybrid solutions.
Toyota made a RAV4ev %26amp; mitsubushi made a 4wd rally car with a motor in each wheel giving better traction and round clearence options.
A Hummer could easily carry a big enough battery for a 200 mile range. it might even be lighter than the current engine %26amp; gearbox.
a convoy could tow a generator for recharging if required, as per the AC propultion tZero.
The military advantages are considerable because of the vunerability of fuel supply lines and the audible warning they give to the enemy, and the heat signature.
However, they don't fit the macho military, global corp %26amp; whitehouse mentality,
and what reason would there be to have a war if we already had all the fuel we needed from home-grown renewables? With the new interest in electric cars, do you think they'll come up with a battery powered Hummer?Sure, if they have recharging stations every, say, 500 feet, for you to stop at.With the new interest in electric cars, do you think they'll come up with a battery powered Hummer?
IN New Zealand a local polytechic has created a working car which is powered by cell phone batteries!!!! It goes from 0-100km in 6.4 secs! The technology and concept are being developed so in 5-10 years it is entirely possible to own a battery powered car.
I hope they do, I like battery powered things. LOLWith the new interest in electric cars, do you think they'll come up with a battery powered Hummer?
They actually did already build FULL Sized electric hybrid Hummers for the Military. They had 4 electric motors connected directly to the wheels. They got better fuel efficiency and could be run in "stealth" mode when they were using just the batteries. Would have been great for special Ops missions. However they Canned the production because they found that maintenance in the field was too difficult.
Here is a link to some articles about the vehicles.

Yep... they did pull the plug, here is an article about it.

Personally I think these would be an awesome advantage for our military just because they are so quiet. I have a friend who owns a Prius and that thing can sneak up on you if you aren't paying attention.
my nephew already has one....it even has remote control...
hmm i like this hummer and it is eco-friendly

while we're waiting for that to happen I'll just look at starr use her batteries up
Why not?
They all ready have them. They are available at your local adult toy store.
I'm not sure how many have read about hydraulic cars, but I can't help but think that might make more sense for larger vehicles.
Batteries alone would be hard pressed in a Hummer. They could make one, but it would cost a lot of money to give it any decent range.
Yes when electrical storage excedes the potential energy of a tank of gasoline.
Some years ago i ask and said to other why not make a machine like a heart to make a car move when this machine of heart pump then it will move? And all it need is a solar, air making energy? And thats only a theory?
