My father drives a Hummer H2. I'm ashamed due to its environmental reprocussions. How bad for environment?

Cars don't get much more environmentally damaging than the Hummer H2. Here's a comparison:

Prius: 104 g/km CO2 emissions.

Hummer H2: 432 g/km CO2 emissions.

You're contributing over 4 times more to global warming by driving a Hummer H2 as compared to driving a Prius.

If you're concerned about this, you could always voice your concerns to your dad. Maybe he'll be willing to trade it in for a less harmful car or something. My father drives a Hummer H2. I'm ashamed due to its environmental reprocussions. How bad for environment?Pretty bad, but just as bad environmentally as any of the other monster SUVs and trucks that people drive, especially without need (if you live in the city, you don't need an all terrain vehicle.)

SUVs also have pretty crappy rollover rates and I would assume that the H2 is no different.

Most people that don't like the H2 don't like it because it is a huge, obscene status symbol, not because of it's particular environmental footprint. My father drives a Hummer H2. I'm ashamed due to its environmental reprocussions. How bad for environment?
Pretty bad man. It's a bummer. Does he have a big yellow magnetic "support our troops" sticker on the back? They're dying for him and his truck, after all.

Every time I see a Hummer I want to tell the driver that they should be driving around Baghdad dodging IED's and rocket propelled grenades. Why do people need to drive a military vehicle? My father drives a Hummer H2. I'm ashamed due to its environmental reprocussions. How bad for environment?Dont be ashamed , if you like it use it. Its environmentally bad and more of an status+ego symbol of rich people. But if you like it use it , who cares there are thousands who like such stuff and dont care 2 hoots for others.

If there was a way of eliminating people with wasteful lifestyles it would have been fun. Hope Darwins natural selection order has something about this.
You have no reason to be ashamed and frankly, no right. My father drives a Hummer H2. I'm ashamed due to its environmental reprocussions. How bad for environment?if my dad drove a hummer i would be proud,i don't know where you got your info, but it's wrong. My father drives a Hummer H2. I'm ashamed due to its environmental reprocussions. How bad for environment?
He'll be responsible for the planet being hotter by at least a millionth of a billionth degree (actually, maybe a little less, how much does he drive?).

Seriously, it's people in the aggregate that cause problems, not the decisions of 1 person.
I don't know when he bought it, but it's hard to make good decisions on limited information. Being ashamed is not necessary.

Hopefully, you can persuade him to buy only as much car as he really needs next time. That would be great. My father drives a Hummer H2. I'm ashamed due to its environmental reprocussions. How bad for environment?
Ask your dad if he can give you a hummer.... ;)
I would be more concerned about the footprint it's leaving in his wallet. But hey, at least you won't have people pointing and laughing like they would if he drove a cockroach on wheels. There are much better SUVs though, like the Ford Escape Hybrid, Jeep Compass, Jeep Patriot, Kia Sportage, etc.
it looks nice and all but it only gets like 12mpg
Not good for environment or the country. Environmentally they not only use a lot of gas but they put out more pollution per gallon of gas because trucks don't have to meet the same pollution control numbers that cars do, (thank you congress)
I'd never drive an H2. Aside from the staggering cost of putting fuel into it (and I don't believe fuel costs will ever go down again), Those things look like oversized toys.
Have him sell it and buy a Ford F350 Quad Cab they get less millage than a Hummer. He could also get a Jeep Larado Full size they get worse millage.

Hmm Hummer sounds pretty good now. Remember it is all realtive, get it realtive your dad.... I crack my self up....
Cool car! I LOVE em!
dude chill hybrids to the same damage its just that they dont do it by burning gas.. and yeah u should just live for the style cuz its our grandkids who are gonna get scrweed with all this pollution
you shoudn't be ashamed to drive a nice vehicle.

i know i'm not.

10% of the people here are jealous.

the other 90% are kooks
Try this research: find out how the eco cars get to be eco. They need lots of nickel, so find out where and how that is obtained and how much of the environment is destroyed mining it and investigate the environmental conditions around the nickel processing plant. Then find out what it costs to get the nickel to the car manufacturer.

After you've done that, ask yourself if you're still embarrassed by your dad's Hummer.
It's bad - enough said.

However obviously that doesn't matter. It's not like you are going to change his mind.
Yes indeed it is safe, that is unless you crash into someone in a gallon per mile armoured tank which would be the next logical development. Heavy polluting cars should be taxed heavily but I shouldn't let it hurt your relationship with your father, which by the sound of your additional comments, it is not.
Hummers are nothing more than another driveway penis. Safety my *ss. Most have them for egotistical reasons only.

They, like the many other status symbols used in our society today represent how much our society has degraded into materilism as the measure of our worth in life. So sad that we need this for our well being.
