I'm bored with my Hummer. Is a civilian version of the MRAP for sale yet?

Good grief the contractor can't even build enough to fill the demand overseas, much less concern themselves with setting up distributors at your local GMC dealership.

Tell ya what, why don't you fly into the sandbox and go test drive one there? In a convoy with supply vehicles? In Afghanistan? I'm sure our Boys and Girls in uniform won't mind.

lolI'm bored with my Hummer. Is a civilian version of the MRAP for sale yet?just got ridd of my m1a2 and ordered a brand new challenger 2 full option.I'm bored with my Hummer. Is a civilian version of the MRAP for sale yet?
Whether you're a troll or genuine, you represent the worst of society. You do bad and you're very good at what you do, for that I applaud you.

TD,

Don't get me wrong, the HMMWV is a beast of a machine and I love the damn thing but it has its place and the city/suburbs is not it. If you regularly ford rivers on your way to work or have to contend with AK-47 toting rebels on the way to the supermarket by all means buy a Hummer otherwise don't be surprised if I judge you for buying a $130,000 status symbol.

April,

Just a technical point, as I mostly agree with you: The HMMWV and Hummer are virtually identical except the H1 is outfitted with civilian interiors and stripped of armor and weapons mountings. And if one were to buy a military vehicle the clear choice is the Canadian LAV III, featuring all the comforts of the Stryker such as C-130 transportability and accommodation for a fully loaded infantry section as well as such bonus features as full NBC protection for those heavy smog days, a 20mm Bushmaster cannon for when you can't have anything get in your way and thermal imaging for night driving.I'm bored with my Hummer. Is a civilian version of the MRAP for sale yet?I don't know but personally I'd like a Sikorsky, no a Black Hawk.I'm bored with my Hummer. Is a civilian version of the MRAP for sale yet?
I thought every man liked a Hummer. My husband sure loves his!

We've have a 2003 H1 - The Sin Smacker! LOL and I just feel so safe when in it. Definitely not a machine for sissies or Liberals!I'm bored with my Hummer. Is a civilian version of the MRAP for sale yet?I'm pretty sure you could find an equivalent - the manufacturers of the MRAP started out by making vehicles targeting the civilian market (VIP protection and the like). They are a bit more (no a lot more) on the costly side than a Hummer though and they aren't road legal.I'm bored with my Hummer. Is a civilian version of the MRAP for sale yet?
and I'm bored of my leopard 1, when will vickers defense systems bring the challenger 2 onto the civil market so that I can buy one
The civilian version of a Hummer isn't really like the Military hummers anyway; so the civilian version of whatever vehicle comes out next to make people feel tough is just going to be another status symbol and not really close to any Military vehicle it's representing. Did you know more women buy Hummers than men? I thought that was interesting. My sister in law wanted one really bad; but my husband talked her out of it. Anyway...if I had my pick for the next Military to civilian vehicle I'd want to drive a Stryker.
