You realize there is more than one Hummer model ( H1, H2 and H3 ) with different engines. What do you also define as a "normal car"? What average car would you want to compare the Prius to?

VW Rabbit 21/30 mpg

Chevy Cobalt 25/34 mpg



But these are government ratings, which are questionable. Why? Because according to them my RAV only gets 25 mpg highway and I've been getting 27 mpg.



BTW hybrids always get poorer gas mileage on the highway than in the city. Hybrids are pretty much a car for a city dweller, and do not benefit some one that lives in a rural area.
