Has anyone bought the new H3? What are your opinions about this new Hummer?

Well cosmetically I love them. I am very pleased with the automakers reducing the amount of glass on cars, a trend really embraced by Chrysler and its 300 class / Magnum vehicles. I don't feel safe in a fish bowl. The drivetrain and suspension components in the H3 are quite robust and should provide good offroad capability.



Tires will be expensive. The powerplant is from the variable exhaust valve in-line 4-valve/cyl engine family, which after they fixed the cylinder sleeves, is a very capable engine. It is only 5 cylinders, requiring dual balance shafts. I really question their decision to equip it with only 5 cylinders, rather than use the 6 cylinder engine which can be rated up to 275 HP. After all, it is a hummer, and should be powerful. I pasted a link of engine specs. It says the 3.5L has a 10:1 compression ratio, which is quite impressive. With 220 HP and 275 ft-lb of torque, this engine has more horsepower and equal torque of a common Chevy 350 V-8 sold in the late 70's and early 80's in full size sedans. That is a comparison of note.



Also note the 4.56:1 final drive ratio for the automatic transmission vehicles. 4.56 is extremely high, and is great for off-roading. In practice, a high ratio like that usually wastes gas while giving you snappy low-end performance and rock-crawling capability.



The vehicle also weighs 4,700 lbs, which is going to be felt at the pump. It is a simple matter of moving all that mass around, and the heavier your foot, the less mileage you will get. A Jeep cherokee weighs in the 4400 lb range, and with a V6 can get 20 mpg. I think the H3 will get about 16. I think it is optimistic. Probably a great tough little 4x4, just budget for tires and gas.Has anyone bought the new H3? i hate hummer h3 i love h1 and i also hate h2 they suck but they r soo cool cause anyone thats bothering them they just hit him and hes gone lol!
