One of the more notable brands of GM, Hummer, has been sold off to a Chinese company.



Anyone who is a part of any US Military Branch, knows how visible the Humvee are. Will we now see the Chinese Military with these exceptional vehicles?

First of all, do you own a Hummer? If you don't, you really don't have a right to decide what GM should do with them.

The fact is that most people believe Hummers are not worth buying because of their inefficiency and the instability of oil prices. They were losing a ton of money for GM. What was their other choice? They are lucky they found a buyer and it will save some jobs.

Production of U.S.military Humvee's will not be affected by the sale of the GM brand Hummer - the current Hummer H3 is built in GM factories, while the Hummer H1 and H2 are/were built by AM General for GM. It should be noted that the military Humvee has been licensed to be built by various countries around the world, including China.

Don't forget it was the Bush White House that started this. I think it's a mistake to sell to the Chinese. They Hummer is nothing that couldn't have been copied anyway by just buying one and taking it apart. AM General, the guys who build the real Hummers, are staying American. GM will still build the Hummer here in the US for now, but the ownership will be Chinese. The deal is not totally done yet, but the Chinese are the only guys with enough money to pull the deal off. AM General makes the Humvee, they only sold the naming rights to "Hummer" to GM in 1999. AM General is an independent company and military contractor. The Hummer and the Humvee are two entirely different entities. AM General has nothing to do with the Hummer and GM had nothing to do with the Humvee.
