Whats worse for the environment: Owning a hummer or having kids?

Having kids, they will use a wider variety of resources for a longer period of time, I think we they are expected to live about 70 years. The hummer is expected to be work for only about 10. There are ways to reduce the impact of both, a hummer has a larger impact than an average car, but it it isn't driven the impact is reduced. If you have only 1 or 2 children and raise them in a sustainable way and they grow up to live sustainable lives even if they live to be 90 they could have less of an impact than driving a hummer for a decade.

There are still people in the world who live in balance with nature. The problem is we keep looking for these people and try to change them.Whats worse for the environment: Owning a hummer or having kids?I'd say owning a hummer, sure you could say that on average, a human being consumes xx amount of energy in their life, though the way we're going now, with every new generation, comes a better understanding and appreciation for our environment and our implications and our carbon footprints, etc.

So if your kids grow up environmentaly-conscious, then a hummer's way worse.Whats worse for the environment: Owning a hummer or having kids?
When you think about what it takes to actually make the Hummer, than driving it, is not being considered by most answers. It's not just eating fuel, there were all kinds of heat, and toxins made at the time it was built. The paint, as with most cars, is highly toxic. This does not include all the energy required to make, or even what it took to make the tires.

This sounds more like a justification to be child free. If people were more like simple animals, and they lived within their scope of the environment, there would be no big deal. It's more that we try to game the system with fancy cures, and put a high value of human life, so things that kill most animals should not kill humans, and now they are out of control. In nature, forces are typically put in play to control populations that get out of control. We just have not seen what that is, but I am sure the dinosaurs could probably tell us...Whats worse for the environment: Owning a hummer or having kids?THis is simply a question that can not be answered with facts. First what type of hummer because differing models have different input output ratios. First if you had an Original H1 and drove it on a constant basis it would be different than and H2 or 3 driven the same amount of time. The same applies with children, are you going to have 1 child or 20? Also their is no guarantee of what environmental effect a child will have. If you are from a "consumer" family, like most of Americans, your total effect will be different than if you are from a family who only purchases necessities. So in order to properly answer this question you may need to elaborate.

I have a 17 month old daughter and I use disposable diapers and used formula, my footprint will be bigger than one who uses cloth diapers and breastfeeds so this will vary house to house and individual to individual.
Having kids. You can leave the Hummer in the living room and use it like furniture. The kids will still keep eating, farting and generally establishing themselves their very own carbon footprint.Whats worse for the environment: Owning a hummer or having kids?A person's lifetime carbon foot print is much larger than the life of a Hummer. So I guess the best thing we can do for the environment is have no kids. Better yet, kill ourselves.

Or just get ride of Al Gore.Whats worse for the environment: Owning a hummer or having kids?
Letting the kids drive the hummer; that could completely destroy the environment and your yard and garden and the neighbors fence...
it matters what the kids will do when they grow up and how much do you drive the hummerWhats worse for the environment: Owning a hummer or having kids?
Owning a Hummer.
Depends on how many Hummers the kids buy when they grow up.
